Road Trip Day 2

Tonight we are in Ashland, Oregon. We are about 5-6 miles from the California border. The goal was to actually get into California, but the car had been greatly stressed today, from lots of insane long uphills, and we had been on the road for nine hours, so we decided to call it quits. The car was seeming a bit funny, and could be having a problem. We shall see in the morning. Right now, we are chilling out in the ski lodge we landed in (first place we came to after the car was acting up)... R. is already passed out. I'm enjoying the time to cruise the Internet.

Today was a long day. Up at 7. Over to the tire place. New tire and rim for the trailer. The old rim straightened up and old spare tire put on it - spare tire rim discarded. Then, it was back to the trailer, tire on, put all the crap back on the roof, and then back to the hotel for a quick swim. Finally on the road around 11:30.

Most of the day was spent driving. We traveled 400 miles today. I think this is awesome. R. wanted to get further and is less pleased. He is also much more stressed about the car than I am. I think "shit happens". He thinks "holy shit". He's worried about how much money we are spending I think "eh, we aren't being as cheap as we should be, BUT.... things happen." We eat cheap. The new tire wasn't too costly. 2 hotels was one more than we wanted. But, ah well. So is the adventure. So, tomorrow, we shall see what the day brings. How the Explorer is. For now, it is time to sleep. Oregon was amazingly beautiful today and I am so glad we got to pass through in the fall. We ended up here around 8:30pm tonight. It definitely beat being on the side of the road in the rain.
